German Emigration Center
The German Emigration Center in Bremerhaven is situated on a historic site in the New Harbor, which opened in 1852 and was the departure point for approximately 1.2 million emigrants to the New World by 1890. During your time journey through the German Emigration Center you will become familiar with a few family histories embedded in historical eras. Your “Boarding Pass” in hand, you will accompany a migrant on his/her journey to the New World, and an immigrant will take you back to Germany.
